This position is available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision.

JOB DUTIES

Are you current regular status employee looking to advance your career? ODOC has a immediate opening for an Assistant Food Services Manager, for internal candidates only. In this position you will be responsible for the effective operations and all phases of food service preparation, production, and serving at Two River Correctional Institution. In this positions you oversee the daily supervision, evaluation, and delegation of work of employees and adults-in-custody ensuring high standards of food quality, sanitation, safety, and security.

Under the supervision of the TRCI Food Service Manager you will exercise supervisory authority over a team of subordinate staff which includes supervise, hire, promote, monitor performance, develop, train, coach, discipline, and provide direction to employees. Respond to and resolve employee, client, or adult-in-custody grievances. Assign and evaluate work. Promote a diverse and welcoming work environment. Promote safety training and practices in performance of all work activities. You will plan, organize, and manage the work of the unit to ensure that performance expectations and outcomes are met. This will require you to assist in the development, implement, and evaluate procedures and systems.

You will participate in the management of all department programs by assisting management in developing program rules, policies, long- and short-range goals, plans, program evaluation, and budget management. Coordinate daily food service preparation, production, presentation, and distribution. Train employees and adults-in-custody in proper food handling. Obtain and maintain food handling certifications. Track and monitor certifications for employees, clients, and adults-in-custody. Inspect kitchen and serving areas to ensure compliance with safety, security, and sanitation requirements. Maintain order and safety among clients and adults-in-custody in kitchen and serving areas. Organize and monitor food, food safety, supplies and equipment inventory. Order, purchase or initiate purchase of perishable foods, dry and canned goods, baked goods, cooking and serving equipment, and cleaning supplies and equipment. Monitor food items for acceptability, quality, and taste, including special therapeutic and religious diets. Develop, schedule, and adapt menus and ensure nutritional and portion control needs are met.

You manage and coordinate program services to external public and private sector entities. In this position you will oversee and adhere to contractual agreements with agencies and community partners, while maintaining strong partnerships and quality customer service.

Act as the Food Service Manager in thier absence, by performing administrative tasks and attending to incidents during non-business hours.

This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications

Four Years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience.

OR one year of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Working Conditions

The employee works inside a secure adult correctional facility. Daily contact with mostly medium-security inmates in the secure confinement of a correctional facility; subject to "call-back" in emergencies; works overtime, as required. Travel by state vehicle (employee may be required to provide own transportation in performance of duties, which is compensated within state rates) to attend meetings. The employee is responsible for personally handle inmate incidents in the immediate area. The employee is responsible to prevent escapes from confinement by proper control of keys, tools, and contraband; and documenting unusual incidents as they occur. In the event of an emergency, may be assigned to any area of the institution. Possible encounters with hostile or abusive inmates poses risk of physical injury. Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.

Requirements for Employment

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
