Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized perioperative nursing care to surgical patients, ensuring patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes. Assesses patient needs, develops and implements care plans, and provides leadership within the surgical team during procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Assess the needs of surgical patients and develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient.
• Implement and evaluate the care plan during surgical procedures, making adjustments as necessary to prioritize patient safety.
• Supervise activity in the operating room, coordinating schedule changes, assembling equipment, and ensuring sterile field integrity.
• Assist anesthesia providers and monitor sterile field throughout the procedure.
• Communicate effectively with patients, their families, the surgical team, and other departments to ensure seamless care delivery.
• Participate in staff development activities, including in-services, educational meetings, and ongoing training to enhance clinical skills and leadership abilities.

Qualifications:

• Active RN license with at least 2 years of OR experience, including recent travel assignments.
• Proven expertise in Level 2 Trauma settings, with proficiency in Orthopedic, Vascular, Neuro, General/GYN, and Urology surgeries.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise OR staff and coordinate multiple stakeholders during surgeries.
• Valid Michigan RN license, verified through LARA and Nursys.
