Travel Nursing Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nurse contract
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• End Date: February 8, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, typically three 12-hour shifts
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Unit: 18-bed Women’s Care medical-surgical unit
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 5–6 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Four weekend shifts per schedule period
• Holiday Requirement: Participation in the core staff holiday rotation
• Call Requirement: None
• Charting: Electronic documentation using EPIC
• Dress Code: Scrubs of any color

Med/Surg Travel RN Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience in an acute-care setting
• Current Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or confirmation that the Illinois RN license application process has been initiated
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Demonstrated experience with nasogastric tube placement, Foley catheter placement, blood administration, and heparin and insulin infusions
• Ability to titrate heparin and insulin drips according to patient needs and established protocols
• Willingness to float to other general medical-surgical units as needed
• Ability to meet applicable healthcare onboarding and drug-screening requirements

Med/Surg Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to postoperative, postpartum, and general medical-surgical patients
• Care for patients recovering from procedures such as hysterectomy and mastectomy, as well as postpartum patients requiring medical-surgical support
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, administer medications, monitor treatment responses, and communicate changes in patient condition
• Manage and monitor heparin and insulin infusions, including titration as ordered
• Perform or assist with NG tube placement, Foley catheter placement, blood administration, and other relevant bedside procedures
• Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, patient care technicians, respiratory therapy, and the broader interdisciplinary care team
• Document patient care accurately and promptly in EPIC
• Support safe patient transitions, discharge planning, patient education, and continuity of care
• Adapt to changing unit needs and provide coverage on other general medical-surgical units when assigned
