Position Summary

The Acute Care Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist delivers healthcare services by aiding in diagnosis and treatment. This role is responsible for performing CT procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. Operating a CT scanner, the technologist obtains images used in the diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies while utilizing knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to generate high-quality images for radiologists and other medical professionals.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiology program or equivalent.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) R.T.(R) & advanced registry in CT, R.T.(CT).
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Two (2) years of radiology experience as a registered technologist.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of previous CT experience in a trauma center (level I or II).

Essential Job Functions

• Perform CT exams and procedures for various hospital departments as requested by medical staff.
• Assist radiologists and other medical staff during exams and procedures.
• Handle ancillary duties related to the distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures.
• Document all necessary information for interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.
• Retrieve and manage written orders and related health information to ensure timely execution of exams.
• Engage in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of quality indicators as per organizational strategies.
• Work independently in a complex, acute care inpatient setting.
• Train and support peers.

• Flexibility to work various shifts and participate in call rotation as necessary.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting, pushing, and pulling: Ability to support and lift up to 50 pounds, including assisting patients and transferring equipment.
• Extended Hours: Role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.
• Flexible Schedule: Position may necessitate working beyond a standard workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
• Effective Communication: Proficient in communication in person and through various technologies.
• Handling Challenging Situations: Ability to manage interactions with distressed patients or families effectively.
• Repetitive Tasks: Capability to perform repetitive tasks necessary for job responsibilities.
