Mechanical Engineer

Senior Mechanical EngineerWe are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical engineering and project leadership within a heavy industrial manufacturing plant. This role will lead capital projects, equipment installations, upgrades, continuous improvement initiatives, and corrective actions from initial design through fabrication, testing, commissioning, and operation. Approximately 80% of the role will be spent on the production floor, with the remainder divided between engineering work and meetings. The production environment includes high temperatures, high noise levels, moving equipment, and heavy machinery.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the mechanical engineering expert for one or more areas of the manufacturing plant.Lead capital projects ranging from $50K to $5M, including new machine installations, equipment upgrades, and plant improvements.Manage projects from design and fabrication through implementation, FAT, commissioning, and operation.Analyze project requirements, identify engineering challenges, and develop practical solutions that meet scope, schedule, quality, safety, and budget requirements.Lead continuous improvement and corrective action projects to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, quality, and safety.Provide technical support to internal plant customers and cross-functional teams.Coordinate and manage internal resources, vendors, and external contractors to ensure successful project execution.Develop and manage engineering drawings using AutoCAD Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Vault.Create and finalize equipment designs, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and spare-parts requirements.Conduct equipment and project risk assessments and implement appropriate safety countermeasures.Ensure all applicable safety standards, legal requirements, and plant procedures are followed.Participate in evaluating existing equipment, systems, processes, and technologies and recommend modifications to improve efficiency and quality.Support machine FAT, startup, and commissioning activities.Must-Have QualificationsExperience managing capital projects up to $5M.Strong experience with Autodesk Inventor 3D modeling.Experience with Autodesk Vault for engineering data management.Hands-on experience with machine FAT, startup, and commissioning.Background in heavy industrial/manufacturing plant engineering.Experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) management.Experience performing equipment risk assessments and implementing safety improvements.Experience managing external contractors and vendors.Strong project management, mechanical design, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work primarily on the production floor in a heavy industrial environment.
