Toyon Research Corporation is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Advanced Concepts flight test team within the Aerospace Systems Group. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles with the ability to take ideas from concept through design, build, test, and delivery. This role is focused on prototype mixed-signal embedded hardware and offers the opportunity to contribute across all phases of product development in a highly collaborative environment.Responsibilities:Perform system analysis, develop architectures, and create detailed electrical designs of advanced avionics and aerospace systemsDesign and build mixed-signal and embedded system circuits and custom PCBAsDrive hardware development from initial concept through fabrication, integration, and deliveryTroubleshoot and resolve complex or unusual engineering challenges under tight timelinesCollaborate across disciplines on multi-project teamsPrepare and present technical material for design reviewsWork effectively under evolving requirements in a fast-paced prototyping environmentRequirements:Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplineMinimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering design and developmentExperience designing, assembling, and troubleshooting circuits and PCBAsProficiency with EE CAD and simulation tools (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, SPICE, etc.)Familiarity with scripting or analysis tools (Python + SciPy, MATLAB, etc.)Strong understanding of general EE principles including:Analog and digital circuit designPower distribution and regulationSignal integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigationComponent selection, derating, and tolerance analysisElectrical safety standards (UL, CE, IPC, MIL-STD)ESD handling and design practicesKnowledge of design documentation and version control best practices (schematics, BOMs, revision control)Ability to interpret and apply industry standards and specifications (IPC-2221/610, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, etc.)Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary settingPreferred Qualifications:Experience with RF circuit design and RF telemetry systemsFamiliarity with communication protocols such as RS-232, ARINC, low-voltage TTL, Ethernet, and MIL-STD-1553 (or 1773)Experience with power electronics design (DC-DC converters, battery systems, motor drives)Experience with FPGA development and integrationExperience supporting environmental testing (thermal, vibration, EMI) and hardware qualificationWE OFFER AN EXCEPTIONAL EMPLOYEE BENEFITS PACKAGE!Competitive Industry Pay100% Employer-Paid Medical Insurance PremiumHSA with Employer ContributionsDental and Vision Coverage OptionsPaid HolidaysPaid Vacation and Sick leaveCompany Funded 401(k) and Profit Sharing PlansEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)Life and Disability InsurancePaid Parental LeaveDiscretionary Bonus EligibilityThe annual pay range for the Electrical Engineer position is $115,000 to $200,000. The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives.
