Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer based in the United States.

This is an opportunity to build and evolve modern, cloud-native applications across the full technology stack.
You will own features end-to-end, from accessible React interfaces to scalable Node.js services and GraphQL APIs.
The role combines hands-on engineering with meaningful contributions to architecture, testing, security, and platform reliability.
You will work in an AI-native development environment where coding agents support implementation, testing, and review.
Senior engineers are expected to orchestrate these tools thoughtfully while maintaining rigorous standards for quality and security.
You will collaborate closely with product, design, QA, and engineering teams in a product-led, highly collaborative environment.
The role offers significant technical ownership and the opportunity to shape both the platform and the way modern software is built.

Accountabilities

• Own and deliver end-to-end product features from discovery and design through production support, ensuring solutions meet business and user needs.
• Build accessible, performant, and maintainable user interfaces using React and TypeScript, following modern frontend engineering practices.
• Design and implement backend services and GraphQL APIs with Node.js, including clear contracts, versioning strategies, and scalable service boundaries.
• Develop and operate cloud-native and serverless workloads on AWS, using technologies such as Lambda, EventBridge, Aurora, SQS/SNS, and DynamoDB.
• Contribute to event-driven, service-oriented, and event-sourced architectures that can scale reliably and evolve safely.
• Use AI coding agents as a primary development tool for appropriately scoped work, creating precise specifications, acceptance criteria, and task decompositions while rigorously reviewing generated output.
• Develop and maintain the context, standards, documentation, architectural guidance, and reusable resources that enable AI agents to work effectively and safely.
• Orchestrate multi-agent workflows by breaking larger initiatives into parallel tasks, supervising execution, and integrating results into coherent, production-ready changes.
• Collaborate on AI tooling and integrations, including MCP servers and other mechanisms that provide agents with secure, controlled access to engineering resources and internal systems.
• Build AI-enabled product capabilities when they provide meaningful user value, including integrations with LLM APIs, retrieval pipelines, and agentic workflows.
• Define and maintain automated evaluations, regression suites, quality benchmarks, and safeguards for AI-powered functionality.
• Create and maintain unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end tests that verify behavior and provide a strong safety net for both human- and AI-assisted development.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and infrastructure-as-code practices using tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Implement observability through structured logging, metrics, and telemetry, while participating in on-call support, incident response, and blameless postmortems.
• Apply secure development practices, least-privilege access, encryption, data minimization, appropriate retention, and strong secrets management.
• Identify and mitigate AI-specific risks such as prompt injection, sensitive data exposure, insecure agent permissions, and over-privileged automation.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and engineering teams to influence technical direction and translate business outcomes into effective engineering solutions.
• Mentor other engineers on system design, code quality, testing, and safe AI-assisted development practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building and delivering production web applications, with strong full-stack engineering capabilities.
• Strong hands-on experience with React and modern frontend development, with TypeScript as a primary language.
• Strong backend development experience with Node.js and event-based service design.
• Practical experience deploying and operating applications in AWS environments, particularly cloud-native or serverless architectures.
• Familiarity with event-driven and event-sourced system design and the ability to contribute to scalable service architectures.
• Demonstrated experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and collaborative code reviews.
• Practical production experience using AI coding assistants or agents, with the ability to evaluate where they add value, recognize their limitations, and verify their output rigorously.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and system-design skills, with the ability to work effectively across the full technology stack.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• A strong ownership mindset, taking responsibility for production outcomes, reliability, security, and maintainability rather than simply completing assigned development tasks.
• Experience with GraphQL and contract-first API development is preferred.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation is preferred.
• Experience with observability tooling and OpenTelemetry-based instrumentation is a plus.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, including data modeling for event-sourced systems, is advantageous.
• Experience in regulated or security-sensitive environments is beneficial.
• Experience orchestrating multiple coding agents, developing MCP servers, or building internal engineering tooling is a plus.
• Experience delivering LLM-powered features involving retrieval, tool use, prompt/version management, evaluation, guardrails, or AI governance is advantageous.
• Experience with large-scale automated refactoring, migration, modernization, developer experience, or internal platform initiatives is a plus.
