Maintenance Crew Chief

Maintenance Crew Chief Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is seeking qualified candidates for the Maintenance Crew Chief position. Operating under the supervision of the assigned manager, the role coordinates daily activities that facilitate the implementation of the County's preventive maintenance program. Responsibilities include executing safety inspections for buildings, vehicles, equipment, and tools; overseeing customer service functions; maintaining staff schedules; ensuring the completion of routine and corrective maintenance both inside and outside; managing daily cash receipts; and coordinating tasks assigned to contractors. The Maintenance Crew Chief is also tasked with overseeing assigned personnel, including staff, volunteers, and seasonal workers, as well as supervising commercial contract workers. Location Hal and Bernie Hanson Regional Park, Aldie, VA Responsibilities Carries out maintenance activities, performs repairs, and addresses work orders. Conducts maintenance and repair activities for vehicles, equipment, and tools. Maintains outdoor areas and prepares tournament fields. Keeps detailed documentation and reports regarding maintenance activities. Additional critical job responsibilities may be carried out as required by the specific role and departmental assignment. Work Schedule & Availability Candidates must be prepared to work a flexible schedule that encompasses weekdays, evenings, nights, some holiday work, and weekends. They should also be capable of working on an as-needed or recall basis, or reporting as required when assigned. The position also requires weekend work to support snow removal/emergency management when called upon. Salary Hiring salary commensurate with experience. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent; preferably with coursework in building trades or grounds maintenance depending on assigned area; four (4) years of related work experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, building trades depending on assigned area inclusive of one (1) year of lead level or supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Certifications & Training Must undergo pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV background checks. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required, with annual reviews of driving records to confirm continued eligibility. Employees must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 30 days of hiring. Additionally, OSHA certifications for forklift, bucket truck, and lift truck operation are required to be completed within the designated timeframes set by the department.
