Everything we do is centered around that mission, and we are looking for someone who wants their work to have a meaningful impact on the people we serve.We are hiring a Quality Improvement Specialist – Housing to join our Quality Improvement team in Salt Lake City!About the RoleAs a Quality Improvement Specialist, you'll play an important role in helping First Step House provide high-quality services while ensuring our Housing and Case Management programs remain compliant with contract, grant, and regulatory requirements.This position focuses specifically on compliance with city, county, state, and federal housing-related funding and regulations, including programs such as TBRA, HOME, HOME-ARP, COC, FOF, SHF, PROUD, and LIHTC, as well as federal HUD guidelines.You'll work across teams to review contracts, develop and update contract implementation guides, conduct internal audits, prepare for and lead external audits, monitor organizational outcomes, and identify opportunities to improve policies, procedures, and processes.This is a great role for someone who loves organization, problem-solving, quality improvement, compliance, and working with people. You'll collaborate with case management and supportive housing teams, supervisors, treatment teams, community partners, government agencies, legal entities, funders, leadership, and other stakeholders.The role requires someone who can balance competing priorities and navigate the different needs and interests of clients, staff, funders, and other stakeholders while maintaining strong interpersonal boundaries and ethical standards. You'll also provide support to administrative teams and assist with priorities from senior leadership and the Board of Directors.You'll have the opportunity to represent First Step House at community trainings, workshops, and provider meetings; contribute to new program development; provide staff training; and support organization-wide quality improvement initiatives.We're looking for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and confident in their communication and decision-making. You should be comfortable working with confidential and legally sensitive information and able to take complex requirements and translate them into clear, practical processes that support our staff and the people we serve.Tired of working 40+ hours a week? Join First Step House and enjoy a standardized 36-hour work week!Our Full-Time Benefits Include:36-hour work week to support a healthy work-life balanceRobust paid time off program with enhanced benefits as you grow with us15 paid holidays annually, including your birthday401(k) employer matchingMedical, dental, vision, and life insuranceEducation & ExperienceA Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health-related field is strongly preferredExperience in both case management and housing is preferredExperience with quality improvement, compliance, audits, or program development is a plusStrong knowledge of housing and case management standards and ethical considerationsStrong organizational and communication skillsExcellent problem-solving and decision-making skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities while maintaining excellent attention to detailAbility to handle confidential and legally sensitive situationsAbility to effectively write business correspondence, procedures, reports, and other professional documentsAbility to confidently present information to management, employees, and clientsProficiency with Microsoft Excel and other technological tools, including databases and spreadsheetsAbility to understand housing and case management information related to grant requirements and external audits, including how requirements apply to the organization and impact staff and clientsAbility to understand and apply complex rules, regulations, policies, and proceduresWhat You'll DoRepresent First Step House at trainings, workshops, and provider meetings in the community; report relevant information back to the organization and provide staff training as neededAssist with the development and implementation of new programsCollaborate with supervisors, treatment teams, community partners, government agencies, legal entities, and other stakeholders regarding program implementation, planning, and audit-related mattersReview contracts and create or update contract implementation guides to ensure organizational complianceMaintain an in-depth understanding of city, county, state, and federal housing requirements, including TBRA, HOME, HOME-ARP, COC, FOF, SHF, PROUD, and LIHTCMaintain knowledge of HUD guidelines, rules, and regulationsManage and update internal auditing procedures and prepare audit reportsConduct internal audits for Housing and Case Management programsLead external audits for Housing and Case Management programs in collaboration with the QI ManagerWork with teams across the organization to ensure necessary data is collected and organizational outcomes are achieved annuallyAssist with managing the organization's clinical quality improvement programIdentify opportunities to improve policies, procedures, and processesProvide training, guidance, and support to staff as neededMaintain knowledge of program rules, client rights, and relevant legal and ethical requirementsUtilize Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, and other software to organize, analyze, and communicate informationAssist with administrative priorities and projects as directed by senior leadershipAttend relevant employee training and staff meetingsDemonstrate an Outward Mindset in all work duties and interactionsWhy First Step House?This isn't a role where you're simply checking boxes or completing paperwork.
