Program Manager (NAP)

Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP) is a membership-based organization that promotes reciprocity and investment in, with and for Native peoples to build healthy and sustainable communities for all. NAP is a powerful and growing network of Native and non-Native nonprofits, tribal communities, foundations and community leaders committed to engaging, learning and sharing resources and best practices grounded the Native tradition of reciprocity. NAP leads several high-level, national philanthropic partnerships, including Generation Indigenous and Tribal My Brother’s Keeper, and is at a critical stage of growth with the recent launch of a movement of movements campaign that frames all of our work. The Program Manager will plan and implement national and regional programs for NAP’s network of Native nonprofits and philanthropies that support their interests, provide learning opportunities, and encourage more direct and deeper connections. The Program Manager will report to the CEO and work closely with other NAP staff and consultants in ensuring program effectiveness and responsiveness. NAP operates with the core belief that Native experiences, cultures, traditions and worldview are critical drivers for social change, and we expect our programs and process to embody this belief. Roles and Responsibilities Program Management Lead planning, development and promotion of professional development, training, and networking programs and events that align with NAP’s strategic direction. Collaborate with relevant NAP staff, planning teams and subject matter experts, as needed for programs and events. Develop and manage program calendar and budget. Supervise Regional Action Network Weavers to develop programming and events responsive to each region. Develop and update program curriculum including presentations, facilitator notes, and participant workbooks and handouts. Conduct or facilitate programs or assist other presenters Coordinate program and event logistics such as participant registration, site selection audio-visual equipment, materials, and refreshments. Collect and analyze program data such as attendance statistics, evaluations from participant, feedback from presenters, and expenses compared to budget. Develop and coordinate research related projects with Indigenous scholars designed to support education and strategic investment in tribal communities. Apply continuous improvement principles, research-based findings and Native cultures and traditions to enhance and expand programs. Represent NAP at events and other relevant engagements, as needed. Membership Development Participate in strategy development for acquiring and retaining members. Promote and manage member benefits, resources, and programs. Ensure new member prospects are captured in database and communicated to team for follow‑up. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience. At least 5 years of overall professional experience in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience managing programs. Strong presentation and facilitation skills, to include the ability to address audiences ranging from entry level Native nonprofits to philanthropic executives. Advanced written communication skills, including the ability to tailor messages to a variety of audiences. Effective interpersonal and social skills to include teamwork and a service orientation. Curriculum development and training experience. Technical communication skills including website registration, blogs, social media, wordprocessing, spreadsheets, and databases. Excellent organizational, project management, and event coordination skills. The ability to understand, appreciate, and interact with persons from the Native culture and to view issues through a Native worldview lens. Ability to travel nationwide up to 30 percent of the time.
