Grants Specialist Job no: 495607 Closes: Work Type: Staff Full-Time Locations: Schriever, LA Categories: Grant Administration College: Fletcher Technical Community College Department: Finance & Administration Sub department: Finance Type of Appointment: Unclassified - Administrative/Staff Salary: $60,636 Duties and Responsibilities Maintain performance standards and pursue goals, objectives, and activities that promote the mission, vision and value statement of the College. Assist in identifying, researching, and tracking grant funding opportunities. Coordinate the preparation, formatting, review, and submission of grant proposals and supporting documentation. Maintain grant application, reporting, and renewal calendars to ensure timely submissions. Coordinate with internal departments to obtain required programmatic, budgetary, and supporting documentation. Review grant proposal packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with sponsor requirements. Assist with grant award setup and maintain grant tracking systems. Track expenditures and monitor grant compliance requirements, reporting deadlines, deliverables, and award conditions. Prepare and compile programmatic and financial reports in coordination with the Grants Manager. Maintain complete grant documentation for reporting, monitoring, and audit purposes. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and other accounting transactions for grant related activities. Perform bookkeeping functions for the Foundation and Falcon Enterprise. Record, reconcile, and maintain financial transactions in accordance with institutional policies and accounting standards. Collaborate with finance leadership to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Assist with audit preparation by organizing and providing requested documentation. Provide administrative support to the Grants Manager and finance team. Foster, demonstrate, and actively participate in a culture of mutual respect for students, guests, and co‑workers from all backgrounds, perspectives and abilities. Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and supervisors and utilize appropriate channels of communication within the college community concerning procedures and/or inquiries. Attend and participate in scheduled activities, which include graduation, open house/recruiting events as assigned, convocation, and required meetings. Share ideas and information, and work toward common department and College goals. Serve on college committees as a member or as chair. Serve on search committees. Participate in professional development activities that enhance effectiveness (convocation, LCTC conference, etc.). Represent the college in a manner that promotes a professional and positive image. Adhere to College and LCTC policies. Embrace college culture. Complete all required assignments prior to deadlines (Fletcher/LCTC trainings, etc.). Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or related fields. A high school diploma or GED, along with five (5) years of experience in grants administration, finance, accounting, or a closely related field, may be substituted for the required Bachelor’s degree. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in grant writing or grant administration. Experience with Banner 9 and QuickBooks. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Familiarity with basic accounting principles and bookkeeping systems. Knowledge of higher education administration.
