Respiratory Therapist

Position Overview Resurrection Medical Center, a leading healthcare facility in Chicago, IL, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join its Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this patient-centered role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult and, as applicable, pediatric and neonatal patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members, you will assess, plan, and deliver evidence-based respiratory treatments and therapies in alignment with individualized care plans and established clinical protocols. Key Responsibilities Perform respiratory assessments, administer and monitor oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and other therapeutic interventions, and manage and troubleshoot ventilators and other advanced life‑support equipment in both critical care and general care settings. Respond promptly to emergency situations such as rapid responses and codes, assisting with airway management, intubation support, and resuscitation efforts. Interpret and analyze diagnostic tests (arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests, pulse oximetry) and adjust treatment plans. Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and participate in interdisciplinary rounds, communicate clearly with patients and families, and promote patient adherence to treatment plans. Qualifications Solid clinical skills in respiratory care, familiarity with current guidelines and best practices, strong critical‑thinking, communication, and teamwork abilities. Ability to prioritize and manage a dynamic workload, flexibility to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, primarily on‑site.
