Our client is seeking a Plant Accountant to support financial operations at its manufacturing facility in Corsicana, Texas. This role partners closely with plant leadership and the Plant Controller to provide financial analysis, cost accounting support, inventory oversight, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with strong manufacturing cost accounting experience who enjoys working closely with operations and influencing business decisions through financial analysis.

Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis & Reporting

• Assist with internal and external audit activities.
• Perform variance analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly plant financial reports and supporting analyses.
• Investigate and explain production, inventory, and financial variances.
• Support COGS forecasting, including standard costing and manufacturing variances.
• Analyze manufacturing spending and identify trends, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.

Cost Accounting & Inventory Management

• Analyze inventory valuation and financial impacts.
• Support standard cost maintenance and product costing activities.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and perform inventory reconciliations.
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to validate costing assumptions.
• Analyze purchase price variances (PPV), labor variances, and overhead variances.

Month-End Close & Compliance

• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
• Assist with intercompany accounting and account balancing activities.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Calculate labor and overhead rates.
• Develop financial models and planning analyses for plant operations.
• Support annual budget preparation and periodic forecasting processes.

Business Partnership

• Support cost improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to plant leadership.
• Assist with corporate reporting requests, tax support, and government reporting requirements.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Strong Excel skills, including data analysis and financial modeling.
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams.
• Strong understanding of: Standard costing, Inventory accounting, Manufacturing variances, Cost of goods sold (COGS) and Month-end close processes.

Preferred Skills:

• CPA or CMA certification.
• Experience working in a SOX-compliant environment.
• SAP experience, particularly within: General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Procurement and Inventory Management
• Experience within a chemical, process manufacturing, specialty materials, consumer products, or industrial manufacturing environment.

Working Environment:

• Minimal travel required (less than 5%)
• Regular interaction with plant operations personnel.
• Occasional overtime may be required during month-end close, budgeting cycles, or special projects.
