Pharmacist

PharmacistThe Pharmacist interprets veterinarian prescriptions and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines. Consults with customers regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions; counsels customers and handles complex problem resolution. This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires and is assigned specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate and regulatory requirements. Please note, this position can be categorized as Exempt or Non-Exempt. Pharmacist who meet the learned professional exemption and are paid on a salary or fee basis are designated Exempt. Pharmacist who are paid hourly are designated Non-Exempt.$2500 Sign On BonusHours: This role will average 32 hours (4 days a week).ResponsibilitiesObtain valid prescription information from licensed veterinarian or designated agent prior to dispensing.Initiate and receive calls and faxes for medication orders.Demonstrate knowledge of and take action in clarification of medication orders.Dispense medications according to prescription from the licensed veterinarian.Prepare medication for use by end-user according to current standards of practice in the profession of veterinary pharmacy.Ensure that medications are labeled appropriately and that products are delivered to end-users in a timely, safe and efficient manner.Answer questions, as appropriate, from other healthcare providers and end-users regarding medication and approved usage.Maintain records of all drugs dispensed and of any and all prescriptions filled.Prepare all reports as required (i.e. daily dispensing log, monthly usage reports).Ensure that drug products, in the pharmacy, are stored in appropriate conditions.Maintain a high standard of customer service.Provide back-up service for other pharmacies as needed.Performs related duties as assigned.Education:Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year Bachelor's Degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires a minimum of eight (8) years directly related and progressively responsible experience; a Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
