Our Co‑op was organized in 1972 as an alternative to the established for‑profit early childcare and preschool programs available at the time. We started as a group of parents who understood that young children learn naturally in an environment offering a choice of activities created with children’s needs in mind. We offer a high quality independent program that includes free play, games, self‑help, social skills, creative expression, and field trips. Teaching Position Overview Teaching staff work to support the core values of the Cooperative Children’s Center: Emergent Curriculum: We encourage learning activities to arise out of each child’s interests, actions or serendipitous events. Children have the freedom to explore their surroundings, to make choices, to communicate, and to resolve conflicts in a supportive climate that nurtures self‑esteem and a desire to learn. Qualifications Must have an AA in ECE or Bachelors degree in ECE, Child Development/Family Studies, Early Childhood Special Education, or Elementary Education with a concentration in early childhood education The person selected for this position must be twenty‑one (21) years of age or older Have a minimum of (2) year of experience working in a childcare center and possess knowledge of basic early childhood development.
