Overview

Provide exceptional service by supporting the restaurant team in creating a clean, organized, and welcoming dining experience for every guest. Buspersons play a critical role in maintaining restaurant flow by anticipating operational needs, supporting Servers and Food & Beverage leadership, and ensuring dining areas are prepared for each guest throughout service.

At Marriott La Jolla, Buspersons are expected to demonstrate urgency, teamwork, professionalism, and a proactive approach while contributing to our service promise of Wonderful Hospitality, always!

Hourly Rate: $24.25 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following are specific contributions that must be developed during the training program in order to successfully perform this role with or without reasonable accommodation:

* Maintain clean, organized, and guest-ready dining areas throughout each meal period.

* Clear, clean, and reset tables promptly according to restaurant standards.

* Support Servers, Food Runners, Bartenders, Hosts, and leadership to ensure efficient restaurant operations.

* Maintain awareness of restaurant flow and proactively assist in preparing tables for incoming guests.

* Replenish service stations with silverware, glassware, linens, condiments, ice, coffee supplies, and other operating supplies throughout the shift.

* Assist with food running, beverage delivery, and other operational support functions as business needs require.

* Promptly respond to spills, broken glass, or other safety concerns to maintain a safe environment for guests and associates.

* Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, service stations, guest walkways, and designated back-of-house areas.

* Assist with opening, transition, and closing side work assignments.

* Communicate effectively with restaurant leadership regarding guest requests, operational concerns, equipment issues, or supply shortages.

* Support banquet functions, special events, and other Food & Beverage operations when business demands require.

* Demonstrate professionalism, urgency, and teamwork during high-volume service periods.

* Comply with attendance expectations and maintain schedule flexibility based on operational needs, including weekends, holidays, AM shifts, PM shifts, and varied schedules.

* Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and SkillsEducation and Experience

* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

* Previous restaurant, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.

* Food & Beverage experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.

* Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and leadership.

* Ability to anticipate operational needs and prioritize multiple tasks throughout service.

* Ability to safely handle trays, dishware, glassware, and restaurant equipment.

* Ability to maintain sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety standards.

* Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift with or without reasonable accommodation.

* Ability to bend, stoop, reach, lift, and carry trays, bus tubs, and restaurant supplies weighing up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

* Ability to work collaboratively with Servers, Hosts, Bartenders, Culinary, Stewarding, and restaurant leadership.

* Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt communication style when interacting with guests, supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
