Process/Specialty Engineer III

Job Description The purpose of this position is to provide technical support for moderate to complex project assignments and serve as the primary interface with Fluor discipline engineers in Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) Process Technology. The role specializes in lithium flowsheets (spodumene, hardrock, clays, brines) and related applications such as metals recycling, water treatment, and extractive metallurgy. Job Duties Apply engineering principles across assignments, potentially leading design of process areas or units and developing drawings and specifications for FEED, EPFC, or other stages in DLE projects. Develop specialized process simulation, spreadsheet models, and HMB for DLE flowsheets and other commodities. Design, manage, and coordinate lab and pilot‑scale hydrometallurgical tests, analyze results, and provide client summaries and recommendations. Provide technical guidance and support during pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and startup of DLE systems. Use advanced techniques and practices in process work. Represent Process Technology in meetings and conferences related to project execution. Contribute to planning and coordination of work, supervise or train junior staff as needed. Understand company market targets, strategic direction, and industry developments. Review the Project Execution Plan, coordinate with engineering and other disciplines to align the Process Activity Plan. Contribute to schedule logic, effort‑hour budgets, and process design criteria. Apply value‑awareness concepts to cost‑focused Process design. Perform process studies and develop Heat and Material Balance, prepare Material Selection Diagrams. Lead internal and external Piping & Instrumentation Diagram reviews and interface with external clients. Check calculations of others, perform calculations for complex systems. Evaluate alternative control strategies and upset conditions on piping line list. Participate in bid tab evaluations for complex equipment. Prepare sections of the operating manual and participate in startup and performance testing. Analyze and make independent recommendations for complex problems per project objectives. Organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks, meet deadlines. Maintain compliance with all policies, procedures, and global standards. Support Fluor’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies. Travel may be required for business purposes. Perform other duties as assigned. Basic Job Requirements Accredited four-year degree (or global equivalent) in engineering and eight years of work‑related experience. Effective communication with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors. Attention to detail and timely, efficient work. Other Job Requirements Experience in DLE technology with specialization in lithium flowsheets. Certification in simulation software and spreadsheet simulation experience in lithium and hydrometallurgical process flowsheets. Experience in developing and delivering BFD/PFD and SmartPlant P&ID for DLE projects. Preferred Qualifications Experience in Direct Lithium Extraction with specialization in lithium flowsheets or other commodities.
