Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive primary and specialty medical care to patients in a physician clinic setting, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, preventive care, chronic disease management, and patient education.

Working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, the Nurse Practitioner evaluates patient health concerns, orders and interprets diagnostic testing, develops individualized plans of care, and provides evidence-based treatment within the scope of education, training, licensure, and applicable protocols.

This position also provides clinical leadership and support to clinic staff and assists with maintaining high standards of quality, safety, patient experience, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care and medical evaluation for clinic patients within the Nurse Practitioner's authorized scope of practice.
• Perform physical examinations, health assessments, preventive screenings, and routine wellness evaluations.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage common acute conditions and chronic illnesses.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient history, examination findings, diagnostic results, and clinical guidelines.
• Order, perform, and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests and laboratory studies.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
• Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, disease prevention, health promotion, and management of chronic conditions.
• Document patient assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and clinical findings accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, laboratory staff, radiology personnel, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Consult with physicians and other providers regarding complex or changing patient conditions.
• Practice within the scope of education, training, certification, licensure, and established clinical protocols.
• Support continuity of care through appropriate follow-up, referrals, and coordination of healthcare services.
• Promote patient safety, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and positive patient experiences.
• Assist the Clinic Medical Director with clinical competency initiatives and quality standards.
• Provide clinical guidance and supervision to nursing, laboratory, radiology, and other clinic personnel as assigned.
• Participate in staff education, training, competency development, and monthly clinical meetings.
• Review and assist with updating clinic policies and procedures in collaboration with the Medical Director.
• Support efficient clinic operations while maintaining high standards of patient care.
• Identify opportunities to improve clinical services, workflows, patient outcomes, and healthcare delivery.
• Maintain effective, respectful, and compassionate relationships with patients, families, providers, and coworkers.

Job Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or advanced practice nursing program.
• Current and unrestricted Arkansas Nurse Practitioner license or eligibility consistent with Arkansas requirements.
• Current national Nurse Practitioner certification through a recognized professional certifying organization appropriate to the area of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, as required for the position.
• Ability to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients within the Nurse Practitioner's authorized scope of practice.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Preferred

• Previous Nurse Practitioner experience in a physician clinic, primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, or specialty practice.
• Experience managing acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Experience with preventive healthcare and health promotion.
• Experience using an electronic health record (EHR).
• Previous clinical leadership, staff supervision, or healthcare team leadership experience.
• Experience with quality improvement, clinical protocols, or healthcare policy development.
• Experience working in a rural or community healthcare setting.

Compensation & Schedule

• Position: Nurse Practitioner Physician Clinics
• Employment Status: Part-time
• Schedule: Primarily weekday clinic hours; schedule may vary based on clinic and patient-care needs.
• Compensation: Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience. Compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.
