Summary:

The Materials and Production Coordinator supports production and remanufacturing operations by planning, tracking, and coordinating the flow of materials, cores, and components needed to meet daily production schedules. This role works closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Quality, and Production teams to ensure materials are available, accurately tracked, and staged for production, while helping to minimize shortages, downtime, and excess inventory across suspension, drivetrain, and wheel product lines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Plan and coordinate daily and weekly material requirements based on production schedules, work orders, and demand forecasts.
• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, cores, components, and finished goods to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
• Partner with Purchasing to place, expedite, and track material and component orders, ensuring on-time delivery to support production timelines.
• Coordinate with Receiving and Warehouse teams to confirm incoming materials and cores are received, inspected, logged, and staged for production use.
• Maintain and update production schedules in the ERP/MRP system, adjusting for material availability, equipment capacity, and staffing.
• Track work orders and production progress, updating system records to reflect real-time status.
• Identify material shortages, delivery delays, or discrepancies that could impact production, and escalate or resolve issues proactively.
• Communicate material status, schedule changes, and production updates to supervisors, production staff, and cross-functional teams.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, material usage, and production output.
• Support core inventory management, including tracking core returns, condition, and availability for remanufacturing lines.
• Assist in forecasting future material and component needs based on sales orders, seasonal trends, and production plans.
• Coordinate with Quality Control to confirm materials and cores meet specifications before release to production.
• Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory audits, investigating and resolving variances.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining material flow, reducing waste, and improving on-time production performance.
• Generate and distribute reports on material availability, production metrics, and inventory turnover to leadership.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe staging and coordination work area in accordance with company safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in production planning, materials coordination, inventory control, or a related manufacturing/warehouse role; automotive aftermarket or remanufacturing experience a plus.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, IQMS, or similar) strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing, inventory control principles, or continuous improvement practices a plus.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across purchasing, warehouse, production, and quality teams.
• Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve material or scheduling issues quickly.
• Working knowledge of production processes, materials flow, and inventory management practices.
• Ability to read and interpret bills of materials (BOMs), work orders, and production schedules.
• Self-motivated with sound judgment and problem-solving ability; able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable working in both an office setting and a production/warehouse floor environment.
