Organizer

Based out of our Brooklyn, NY office

Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU) is a grassroots movement of Teamster members that networks and develops rank-and-file activists, and organizes to build union power from the bottom up.

We train grassroots activists, help reformers run for local union office, and build contract campaigns both local and national – with an eye to the 2028 contract fight at UPS.

We are seeking an experienced, committed Organizer . This is a full-time organizing position out of our Brooklyn office. 

Responsibilities

• Work on TDU campaigns, including the 2028 UPS Contract Campaign
• Work with activists to build grassroots contract campaigns and contract enforcement campaigns
• Help rank-and-file activists to be leaders in their workplace and union
• Build relationships with and support the organizing of worker leaders
• Organize TDU meetings, educational workshops and trainings (virtual and in-person), 
• Help activists run for local union office and build model local unions

Qualifications

• Previous organizing experience
• Commitment to building a progressive labor movement
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Strong computer skills

Additional Qualifications

• Willingness to work hard in a cooperative style. Some weekend work and travel comes with the job
• Ability to organize with workers from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
• Ability to speak Spanish a plus

Compensation/Benefits

• Annual salary of up to $82,000 depending on experience
