Packer - Expanding Metal

This short-term assignment offers the opportunity to work in an expanding metal department, packing chicken wire products and supporting production in a clean industrial environment. You will handle materials, operate basic equipment, and perform packaging tasks with accuracy and care, with the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Pack chicken wire into plastic sleeves with accuracy and consistency.
• Label packaged products clearly and correctly according to specifications.
• Place finished, labeled products into boxes and prepare them for shipment or storage.
• Lift and move materials and boxes weighing up to 30 pounds throughout the shift.
• Use basic hand tools and equipment safely while performing daily tasks.
• Read and use a tape measure to ensure products meet required dimensions.
• Handle materials and support machine operations in an industrial manufacturing setting.
• Apply mechanical aptitude to understand and support processes such as metal rolling, metal stamping, and expanding metal operations.
• Follow written and verbal instructions, including production, labeling, and safety guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area within the plant.
• Work proactively and independently, staying productive with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate any issues related to quality, safety, or production flow.
• Complete a basic math test as part of the qualification process and apply basic math skills on the job.
• Demonstrate reliability and strong work ethic to be considered for potential permanent placement.

• Previous industrial experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience as a packer, machine operator, material handler, or in a similar role.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly during the shift.
• Basic math skills and the ability to pass a basic math test.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around mechanical processes such as metal rolling and metal stamping.
• Ability to use basic hand tools safely and effectively.
• Strong work ethic with a proactive, self-starting approach.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively in an industrial setting.
• Willingness to work Monday through Thursday from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM and occasionally on Fridays.

• Experience working with expanding metal or similar metal products.
• Familiarity with industrial machinery and material handling equipment.
• Comfort working in a non–climate-controlled environment.
• Ability to adapt to changing production needs and learn new tasks quickly.
• Interest in long-term growth opportunities and advancement within a large industrial complex.

Work Environment

You will work in a clean industrial facility within a large manufacturing complex. The department focuses on expanding metal products and related processes, including metal rolling and metal stamping. The environment is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. The standard schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, including one unpaid 30-minute lunch and two paid 15-minute breaks, with occasional work on Fridays as needed. You will use basic hand tools, handle materials, and work around industrial machinery while following safety guidelines at all times.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ellenwood, GA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
