Title Abstractor

Summary/Objective Abstractors perform title searches at designated courthouses in addition to using client approved online websites. An abstractor will produce a limited title certificate that reflects a chronological history of each parcel. Abstractors must be able to work in a fast-paced environment in order to meet tight deadlines and strict standards. Essential Functions Pulls tax cards from county courthouses or county’s on-line software system. Searches county property records for all documents pertaining to each parcel. Must be able to research title back to patent. Must be able to deed plot metes and bounds legal descriptions. Prepare Chains of Title and Limited Title Certificates. Research probates, judgments, and district court records. Enters all title information into database. Performs other duties as assigned by title supervisor. Competencies Ability to research public records. Analyze title data and property maps. Interpret deeds, court actions and probates. Familiarity with title law in each state. Ability to Deed plot. Effective communication skills. Excellent computer skills. Organizational Skills. Problem Solving/Analysis. Time Management. Required Education and Experience High school diploma. 3 years of Right-of-Way industry experience. 3 years of Title Abstracting experience.
