Sun River Health is currently seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant/Patient Representative to support our Monticello, NY location. A Medical Assistant/Patient Representative renders assistance to patients and professional staff, within an assigned unit of the Center or authorized community site, in support of medical care as directed by the nursing and medical staff and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the Center. Performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards. Performs any additional jobs or duties as assigned. Responsible for providing patient centered care and facilitating patient access to services in a pleasant, knowledgeable efficient manner, communicating with a diverse population using well-developed interpersonal skills. This staff member will be responsible for all aspects of the registration and appointment process for patients. The staff member plays an integral role in the medical care team as the access point for patients to receive care. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Of a Medical Assistant/Patient Representative Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including obtaining and documenting vital signs and relevant patient information. Assist providers and other clinical staff during patient visits, examinations, and procedures as appropriate. Support patient flow by preparing examination rooms and ensuring rooms are properly stocked and ready for use. Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record in accordance with established procedures. Assist with scheduling, referrals, follow-up activities, and other patient care coordination needs as assigned. Provide patients with instructions and information consistent with direction from the clinical team. Maintain appropriate infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality standards. Ensure medical supplies and clinical areas are appropriately maintained and organized. Collaborate with providers, nurses, and other members of the care team to support an efficient and positive patient experience. Facilitates patient care within different departments of SRH and outside agencies. Verifies all insurance and sets fees based on the sliding scale fee Consult with medical staff to link patients to services through the provision of ancillaries such as translation, transportation assistance and application assistance. Responsible for telephone and mail contact with patients. Assists with daily reception activities and ensuring that all processes needed for patient services are initiated. Provide basic instruction/health education to clarify provider instructions, procedures and referral needs. Perform other duties within the scope of the Medical Assistant/ Patient Representative role as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred. Previous Medical Assistant or related clinical experience preferred. National Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required, unless otherwise specified for the position. Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism when interacting with patients, colleagues, and providers. Certification National Medical Assistant certification is preferred but is not required for consideration unless otherwise specified for the position. Compensation Medical Assistant: $21.26 to $27.04 per hour Certified Medical Assistant: $22.37 to $28.43 per hour Candidates who hold a current, recognized national Medical Assistant certification may qualify for the Certified Medical Assistant compensation range. Final compensation will be determined based on applicable qualifications, experience, certification status, and organizational compensation practices.
