During the trainee period,which is not to exceed 12 months, the APAT is expected to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, andabilities to function under general supervision at the SSP IB working level. The incumbent assists the Assistant Director through clearly defined efforts to deliver integrated support services andprogramming aimed at improving students’ academic success, leadership, professional development, retention, andenrichment of the overall student experience. The APAT contributes to the development and execution of intentionalstudent involvement and engagement programs, activities and events and will also advise student-led clubs andorganizations, with an emphasis in Greek Life. FLSA : Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime compensation) Anticipated Hiring Range :$4,150 per month (Anticipated hiring rate is at the minimum of the classification salary range) CSU Classification Salary Range : $4,150 per month - $5,076 per month Recruitment Type : Temporary (1-Year Limited Duration. Possibility for reclassification into the SSP IB classification for an additional 1-year appointment.) Time Base : Full-Time Pay Plan : 12 months Work Hours : Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm / Summer HoursMonday - Friday 7:30am to 4pmwith evening hours and occasional weekends dependent on department need. These experiences nurture campus pride and student success to advance an inclusive and equitable community. The Leadership Program strives to create intentional leadership experiences so that students may capture their true potential through individual exploration and societal awareness in order to enact change.We provide leadership development opportunities through various programs including educational opportunities, trainings, and recognition ceremonies. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge and Abilities: Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques forthe purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and the techniques and methods ofinterviewing. Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriaterecommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews; clearly express ideasand recommendations orally; write clear and concise reports; and establish and maintain cooperative workingrelationships with students, staff and faculty. Experience: None required. Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or businessadministration or a job-related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfullyapplied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-yearbasis. RequiredQualifications: Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior and the ability to apply that knowledge when supporting student leaders, chapters, governing councils, and students with differing needs, experiences, and perspectives. Working knowledge of research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information. Working knowledge of the techniques and methods of interviewing and advising to understand student needs, clarify concerns, provide accurate information, and help students identify appropriate options and next steps. Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate program improvements for student programs, workshops, events, and leadership-development initiatives. Ability to participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews. Ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally, to write clear and concise reports, and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Condition of Employment: Satisfactory completion of the background check process. PreferredQualifications: Experience supporting, advising, or working with student-led clubs, fraternal organizations, governing councils, or campus engagement initiatives in a college or university environment. Experience coordinating programs, workshops, events, or projects involving multiple participants, deadlines, and campus or community partners. Experience working collaboratively with colleagues and constituents from diverse backgrounds in a dynamic, service-oriented environment. Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, with advanced notice. Familiarity with different fraternity and sorority council models and the distinct histories, structures, traditions, and needs represented within a diverse fraternity and sorority community.
