Lead Prevention & Education-BHS-HHK-Sacaton

Position Summary: Oversees and ensures continually improving prevention services for suicide, mental health and substance abuse prevention and remediation through specialized staff members while working closely with the Prevention Administrator to maintain the goals and objectives of program services by performing the following duties personally and through subordinate staff members. Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.

Critical Tasks:

• Guides all grant activities to meet grant objectives while maintaining the goals and objectives stipulated within all applicable program grants.
• Remains fully coordinated with the Prevention Administrator on all activities occurring under grant funding.
• Conducts and oversees effective programs to prevent alcohol and substance/drug abuse throughout the community with a significant emphasis upon youth, schools, families, etc.
• Focuses all activities upon reducing risk factors, identifying symptoms of substance misuse/suicide, and how community members may successfully connect with appropriate services.
• Oversees educational sessions at schools serving Gila River students using evidenced based curriculum on subjects of substance use and suicide prevention.
• Assigns duties and objectives to subordinate staff in a manner that ensures exceptional and successful service to residents and patients.
• Coordinates all activities with other Behavioral Health staff members and providers.
• Continually develops knowledge of chemical dependency and suicide prevention and treatment methods.
• Completes and submits all activity reports comply with grant requirements on a timely basis.
• Provides highly participative group presentations in a manner that inspires broad scale wellness for all audience and participating community members.
• Maintains constructive coordination with the Public Relations Department while launching and maintaining successful media campaigns on subjects of substance abuse, suicide, and wellness.
• Takes all steps to remain compliant with HIPAA and all confidentiality and professional standards, without exception.
• Orders, monitors, and distributes educational materials throughout the community.
• Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.
• Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.
• Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a health care and/or counseling field or relevant coursework and experience in the fields of mental health, chemical dependency, suicide prevention and/or substance abuse treatment.
• Community experience within the Gila River Indian Community is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
• Interest in medical subjects, patient services/care, and customer service.
• Prior medical environment work experience is preferred.
