R&D Assistant

Position R&D Assistant (Nonexempt) Summary Food Manufacturing Company is seeking an R&D Staff member responsible for product development, product improvement, cost analysis, and related research activities. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about food innovation, enjoys hands‑on product development work, and is motivated to improve both product quality and manufacturing efficiency through research and collaboration across departments. Essential Duties Understand raw material characteristics, functionality, pricing, as well as company products and production methods, while identifying customer requirements Conduct new product development and product improvement trials based on customer needs Create product labels in compliance with applicable regulations Develop cost‑conscious industrial recipes based on raw material pricing and production processes Conduct test production and support workflow improvements on manufacturing lines Monitor market trends for raw materials and packaging supplies and share insights with internal teams Research alternative ingredients and materials to address potential supply challenges Research and propose new manufacturing methods and equipment to improve production efficiency Identify trends in food service and consumer markets to support forward‑looking product development Prepare and present market research reports, new product development plans, and presentation materials for internal teams and clients Perform other assigned duties, including handling and lifting materials up to approximately 50 lbs Salary & Benefits $20 – $25/hour (Nonexempt) Benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision insurance (100% covered for employee and family) Long‑term disability insurance Life insurance (employee only) Paid time off (per company policy) 401(k) retirement plan Working Hours & Style Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Standard full‑time office and plant‑based work schedule Working Location Santa Fe Springs, CA Holidays Saturdays, Sundays, and U.S. federal holidays PTO (Paid Time Off) Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred (Food Science or Biochemistry background is a plus) Business‑level proficiency in both English and Japanese (required) Basic understanding of food product development or strong willingness to learn Knowledge of ingredient chemistry and formulation, with logical problem‑solving skills Strong communication and teamwork skills across departments Ability to present new products effectively Strong analytical skills to interpret market and technical data for product development 1+ years of relevant experience or equivalent knowledge in food nutrition or chemistry preferred Persistence and commitment to achieving goals Physical ability to lift and handle materials up to approximately 50 lbs #J-18808-Ljbffr QUICK USA
