Organization: Education Through Music, Inc. | Location: NYC, NY | Salary: $56,051 - $66,644/year Overview Education Through Music is a non‑profit partner of New York City public schools that integrates music education into school curricula. The organization serves all five boroughs, partners with 50 schools, and provides instruction toover18,000 children. Music plays a vital role in studentwell‑being and equity. Responsibilities Serve as school music faculty. Coordinate and develop in‑school music programs with program staff. Produce two school‑wide concerts each academic year. Attend and assist in school‑wide functions such as assemblies, graduation ceremonies, and after‑school activities. Develop comprehensive scope and sequencing of lesson plans. Reflect on, implement, and improve existing instructional processes. Eligibility Teachers without current DOE “eligible” status must undergo fingerprinting and background checks through the NYC DOE PETS system. Only staff cleared by the DOE and designated as “eligible” can be hired by ETM. Mandatory Mandate Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Music, Arts, or a related field. 1‑3 years of experience teaching up to 30 children in an organized setting (self‑employed private lessons do not qualify). Ability to perform quality singing in front of children. Sound musical knowledge and understanding of musical pedagogy practices. Physical capability to walk up several flights of stairs and lift up to 15 lb of equipment. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Music Education or related field. Certification to teach in New York State or another state. 3‑5 years of experience teaching in NewYorkCity public schools. Proficiency in singing, conducting, keyboard, guitar, and presentation skills. Prior experience teaching band, orchestra, modern band, and choir. Comfortable with music‑technology software such as Soundtrap. Benefits 12‑month (year‑round) payroll. Paid time off— sick days, personal days, school holidays, and summer break.
