Care is delivered through a geographic, team‑based model, with nurses working in small care teams supported by Emergency Department technicians. Nurses collaborate directly with an attending physician, allowing for efficient workflow, strong clinical partnership, and continuity of care. This setting is well suited for nurses who appreciate hands‑on practice and meaningful engagement in patient care within a community hospital environment. Job Description Duties and Responsibilities Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager (or designee), and within the framework of the RN license, participants engage in the following activities. Provides direct care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process to provide patient centered care Systematically assesses the health status of the patient Analyzes and interprets data and makes nursing judgments regarding care plans Implements and coordinates nursing interventions and evaluates outcomes of nursing interventions Revises/updates plan of care, documents nursing process clearly and concisely, communicates nursing plan effectively Coordinates the care of patients and directs assistive personnel in order to provide safe, effective, equitable and timely patient‑centered care Develops relationships with patients and families that maintain and communicate trust and respect Demonstrates the ability to act as a patient advocate Demonstrates awareness of environmental forces on the health care of the patients and their families Considers specific cultural beliefs and practices when caring for patients. Utilizes interpreter services for patients with limited English proficiency Provides care appropriate to the age groups of patients regularly served; applies knowledge of growth and development when caring for patients of all ages Works in a collegial and collaborative relationship with other health care providers to determine the needs of the patients and their families and communicate effectively in the exchange of information to ensure quality and continuity of care Effectively participates in all “hand‑off” communication without exception: shift to shift, from ED to inpatient areas, RN to MD Adheres to infection control protocols and policies Maintains annual mandatory education requirements, which include emergency skills and unit‑based competencies Identifies the need for continued growth and development by attending and/or participating in in‑house or outside training programs to improve and augment skills and knowledge Performs safely and efficiently in emergency situations, assessing, planning and evaluating care to meet rapidly changing patient and family needs Participates in activities that contribute to professional development of self; may participate in nursing/multidisciplinary committees, orientation programs and unit‑based performance improvement projects demonstrating an ability to act as team leader for small projects or work groups that create a collaborative and respectful team environment and orientation programs Assumes role of Resource RN as necessary, understanding, coordinating and ensuring workflow through the department and maintaining contact with the Triage RN to appropriately prioritize and place the ED patient Assumes the role of Triage RN as necessary, utilizing an ESI 5 Tier triage system to appropriately assess and prioritize the needs of the ED patient and maintains contact with the Resource RN to ensure safe and timely placement of the patient in the core Adheres to the hospital’s Respect standards; provides a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers Employee maintains competencies (position specific and hospital‑wide) required for the specific patient population served Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules, and regulations set forth by appropriate regulatory and government agencies and in accordance with established department and hospital policies and procedures May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager or supervisor The nature of the tasks/responsibilities required of employees in this position will likely expose them to blood and body fluids. Employees will be oriented to and required to understand and follow the standard precautions for infection control. A summary list of tasks and procedures that may cause exposure to blood and body fluids is listed in the attached Physical Abilities Job Description. Also identified is the protective gear that is available Qualifications 1 Year of acute care medical‑surgical experience (or equivalent) required; emergency nursing experience preferred American Heart Association Basic Life Support, certification required American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support; certification required American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support; certification preferred, required within twelve months of hire Must be able to pass basic medication test prior to hire Must be able to pass basic tele test by end of orientation Pay Range $37.08 – $92.84 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
