Mobile Diesel Technician II This position requires performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and related duties. The technician is a lead on job sites, serving as a consultant on behalf of customers and other technicians. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Execute minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair a range of truck equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments. Conduct road tests to verify vehicle functionality. Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and determine accurate solutions using sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory on company‑issued service trucks and perform periodic reconciliations. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicles, including safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Work effectively with clients and customers to assess needs and resolve issues. Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time efficiently. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work in company standards, uploading pictures and parts information on Repair Orders via the TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT and other required forms promptly. Work independently with a high degree of independence to manage own daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity, meeting or exceeding standard repair times. Source parts from approved local and national vendors. Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimates and purchase order numbers. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of experience in a related field (or equivalent educational or experiential combination). At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment. Possession of a set of hand tools necessary for job duties. OEM training and certifications preferred. Participation in and completion of all company‑required training. Ability to successfully complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical, or present a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining. Minimum age 21 years. Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File. Compensation Hourly pay ranges from $32.07 to $48.13. Base rate may vary by location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation may include commission and incentive programs.
