Repair Technician

The Repair Technician performs high-quality mechanical and electrical repairs and rework on electric vehicles to ensure every unit meets all functional and quality standards before release. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, precise attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on electric vehicles according to defined processes and procedures.
• Carry out rework activities to correct manufacturing or assembly issues identified by Quality or Engineering teams.
• Diagnose issues using tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic software to identify root causes accurately.
• Execute repairs by following approved work instructions, torque specifications, and established safety protocols.
• Verify repair quality and vehicle functionality before releasing units back into production or to customers.
• Document all repair and rework activities accurately in tracking systems, travelers, or other documentation tools.
• Maintain an organized, clean work area and ensure proper care, storage, and use of tools and equipment.
• Follow all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) procedures, including high-voltage safety requirements.
• Communicate repair findings, part needs, and potential process improvements to team leads and engineering support.
• Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce rework, improve first-time quality, and increase overall efficiency.

Essential Skills

• 23+ years of hands-on experience in automotive, electric vehicle (EV), or manufacturing repair in assembly or service environments.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and diagnostic principles.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and detailed work instructions.
• Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and use of diagnostic or tracking software.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving mechanical and electrical issues.
• Commitment to following safety protocols, including high-voltage safety and EHS procedures.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical certificate or relevant technical training is preferred.
• Experience working with electric vehicles, EV platforms, or hybrid systems is an advantage.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement concepts and practices in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with quality, engineering, and production teams.
• Ability to maintain organized documentation and support process improvements.

This role is based in a manufacturing facility dedicated to commercial electric vehicles and advanced EV platforms. You will work around electric drivetrains, battery systems, and high-voltage components, following strict environmental, health, and safety procedures. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with collaboration among EV, battery, and drivetrain experts who are building first-of-its-kind platforms to support the growing demand for medium-duty EVs and hybrids. You can expect hands-on work with tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic software in a structured production setting that emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and adherence to standardized work instructions and safety protocols.

This is a Permanent position based out of Sturgis, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
