Hospital-based Gastroenterology coverage 196-bed acute care hospital Inpatient consultative service only EMR: Epic Adult inpatient population

Team Structure

Support from 5 local Gastroenterologists Handoff model for continuity of care Collaborative hospital-based specialty support

Clinical Responsibilities

Round on existing GI inpatients Perform procedures as clinically indicated Evaluate new ED consults Evaluate new inpatient consults Manage acute GI admissions and hospital follow-up needs Handoff patients back to local GI team after coverage block

Clinical Scope

Bread-and-butter Gastroenterology General inpatient GI consults Endoscopic procedures as needed ERCP preferred (especially for those with prior privileges)
