Structural Engineer

The Role

We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team. This role is open at multiple experience levels, and we will match the right candidate to the level that fits their background. You will prepare structural calculations and designs, collaborate with our drafting team to produce complete construction document sets, and work alongside experienced engineers who are invested in your development. Candidates in the Treasure Valley will work from our Meridian office on a hybrid eligible basis, and we are open to a fully remote arrangement for the right person.

What You Will Do

• Prepare structural calculations and designs for projects involving multiple construction materials
• Prepare or modify drawings, specifications, and calculations in compliance with applicable codes and accepted engineering practices
• Use FEA software to design structures and analyze performance under applicable loading
• Develop and evaluate options for structural engineering problems and implement solutions
• Redline drawings created by the drafting team or provided by clients, and collaborate with drafters to produce complete structural drawing sets
• Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction to obtain design criteria and other project information
• Review shop drawings and submittals, and perform project administration tasks
• Perform site visits as needed to address existing conditions and conformance to design drawings
• Support the team in meeting project schedules and maintaining budgets
• Participate in project meetings, kickoff meetings, and closeout meetings, contributing from an engineering perspective
• Interact professionally with clients, owners, contractors, and consultants, building the relationship skills that drive repeat work
• Actively work toward licensure advancement

What We Are Looking For

• 1 or more years of professional structural engineering experience. Candidates with 3 or more years will be considered at a higher level
• Bachelor of science degree in civil or structural engineering is required
• Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) or Engineer Intern (E.I.) is required. P.E. licensure is a strong plus
• Knowledge of RISA 3D or equivalent finite element analysis software
• Knowledge of applicable structural design codes including IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and NDS
• Working knowledge of structural design utilizing concrete, wood (timber frame, logs, stick built), and steel
• Understanding of statics, load path, and construction means and methods
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical reports, letters, and project correspondence
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Job Location

Treasure Valley (Meridian, Idaho Office)

This position is preferably based in our Meridian, Idaho office. Candidates located in the Treasure Valley will work in office, with hybrid work arrangements of up to two days per week from home available after six months based on performance, position, and team needs.

Fully Remote

For the right candidate, we are open to a fully remote arrangement. Remote eligibility is limited to candidates not within driving distance of a Tamarack Grove Engineering office (Boise, ID; Lyndhurst, NJ; Bozeman, MT). Fully remote team members must have a reliable home office setup with high-speed internet and must be available to collaborate during Mountain Time business hours.
