Automation Test Cell & Facility Engineer

The Automation Test Cell & Facility Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of automation, controls, and testing systems in PACCAR’S Engine Test Laboratory (ETL) that support powertrain, engine, and aftertreatment development programs. This role supplies and enhances testing tools, test cell infrastructure, automation systems to validate new hardware and software technologies. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to improve test quality, increase automation and standardize testing procedures at ETL.Job Functions / ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and implement automation and control systems for engine test cells and facility operationsSupport PACCAR engineering organizations by supplying, improving, and maintaining testing tools used for calibrating, evaluating, and validating hardware and software systems used in test cellsSupport calibration, evaluation, and validation activities through continuous improvement of testing toolsSupport facility upgrades and new test cell development initiativesCollaborate with engineering teams to improve test quality, automation, safety, and operational efficiencyResearch and implement new automation, instrumentation, and testing technologiesRequired Qualifications & SkillsB.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical), Computer Science, or related discipline Minimum 7 years work experience in automation and control systems for engine test lab facilitiesProficiency using AVL test cell automation systems and Siemens facility hardwareBasic knowledge of diesel engine and exhaust aftertreatment system operation and control systems Ability to work with all ETL staff, fostering teamwork and employee developmentAbility to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary teamSelf-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasksExcellent organizational and communication skillsPreferred Qualifications & SkillsMS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Automotive, or related engineering degreeTest cell experience performing heavy-duty on-highway engine development Experience performing engine or exhaust aftertreatment calibrationProficiency using AVL test cell automation systems and data analysis (PUMA and CONCERTO)Experience using engine control software such as ATI Vision, CALTERM, dSpacePACCAR Benefits As a U.S. PACCAR employee, you have a full range of benefit options including:401k with up to a 5% company matchFully funded pension plan that provides monthly benefits after retirementComprehensive paid time off – minimum of 10 paid vacation days (additional days are provided with additional seniority/years of service), 12 paid holidays, and sick time Tuition reimbursement for continued education Medical, dental, and vision plans for you and your familyFlexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings account (HSA)Paid short-and long-term disability programsLife and accidental death and dismemberment insuranceEAP services including wellness plans, estate planning, financial counseling and moreAdditional Job Board InformationPACCAR is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veteran/Disability.
