Senior Associate – Client Accounting Services

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina

Type: Full-Time, In-Office

Experience: 5+ years preferred

Pay Range: Hourly ($26.00-32.00) Experienced based

Position Summary

The Senior Associate – Client Accounting Services will manage a portfolio of recurring business clients and take ownership of their ongoing accounting, payroll, and compliance needs.

This is a senior-level CAS position for an experienced accounting professional who can manage client relationships and recurring deadlines with limited day-to-day supervision.

The role requires more than transactional bookkeeping. The Senior Associate will be expected to understand each client’s accounting needs, identify and resolve discrepancies, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure client books are complete and tax-ready.

This position is fully in-office and requires regular client and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain accounting records for an assigned portfolio of business clients
• Perform and review bank and credit card reconciliations
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting processes
• Process payroll and handle related payroll tax filings
• Prepare and file sales tax and other state and local business filings, including WV B&O tax when applicable
• Maintain payroll tax and compliance accounts
• Perform accounting cleanup and catch-up work as needed
• Review general ledger activity and identify discrepancies or unusual transactions
• Prepare financial statements and recurring client reports
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable when included within the client engagement
• Communicate directly with business owners regarding accounting questions and missing information
• Proactively identify client accounting or compliance issues and recommend solutions
• Prepare complete year-end accounting records and tax packages for CPAs
• Coordinate with tax professionals regarding client accounting matters
• Assist with onboarding new CAS clients
• Maintain recurring client deadlines and ensure work is completed on time
• Support and assist junior accounting staff when appropriate

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or Client Accounting Services experience preferred
• Public accounting or multi-client accounting experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online and/or Desktop
• Experience with payroll processing and payroll tax reporting
• Experience with sales tax and business compliance filings
• Strong understanding of bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and financial statements
• Experience with accounting cleanup and year-end preparation
• Strong communication and client service skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to independently manage multiple clients and recurring deadlines
• Comfortable working directly with business owners as a trusted accounting resource
• Ability to recognize when technical matters should be escalated to a CPA
