Junior Packaging Engineer

Summary Lidl US is searching for the next Junior Packaging Engineer (Internal: Engineering Analyst) to join our Branding & Packaging team! As an Engineering Analyst, you will play a key role in our private label (“store brand”) packaging process, from initial packaging documentation to display case (“SRP”) optimization. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role based at our head office in Arlington, Virginia. Rather than developing and testing, you will collect and verify information with both internal and external teams, ensuring all assets meet Lidl packaging standards. What You’ll Do Essential Functions Oversees and manages assigned project and/or departments data, ensuring it meets predetermined contractual or policy requirements Conduct data entry and data management for various department projects Assist with the development of training materials such as manuals, handbooks, presentations, diagrams, workflows, and project plans Partners with vendors to optimize our SRPs for store efficiency and appearance Collects and reviews all packaging files needed for artwork development - dielines, printing specifications, technical drawings, etc - to submit to the Branding & Packaging (BAP) team Provides packaging subject matter expertise to internal teams Collaborates with cross-functional teams such as Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Merchandising Applies knowledge of packaging materials and function to each project Reviews initial rounds of packaging artwork to ensure correct execution Conduct data entry and data management for various department projects Assist with the development of training materials such as manuals, handbooks, presentations, diagrams, workflows, and project plans Organize job details, track milestones, and proactively raise questions and solutions as needed within the packaging development process Enter packaging information into Lidl US systems and actively address questions Apply critical thinking skills to proactively raise questions and propose solutions, to produce high-quality deliverables Perform other duties as assigned What You’ll Need Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Proficient in Google Workspace tool and/or Microsoft Office Suite Ability to work independently Detail-oriented with strong organization skills Strong project management and time management skills Strong oral and written communication skills Knowledge of corrugated paperboard box creation and construction General to intermediate understanding of packaging components, structures and materials Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace and Adobe Acrobat Understanding of the implementation of primary and secondary packaging Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field 1-3 years of experience in a related field (including CPG or Corrugate Manufacturing) In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience in related field will meet the education and related experience requirements listed above Experience in or fundamental knowledge of packaging design in the private label or national brand environment Physical Job Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times What You’ll Receive At Lidl, we know that in order for our people to do their best, they must be at their best.
