Attorneys receive direct mentorship from experienced partners while being given the opportunity to take ownership of their matters and continue developing their litigation skills.The position offers a flexible hybrid schedule, although candidates must be able to work from the firm's Jacksonville office as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload of general liability and insurance defense matters from inception through resolution.Handle matters involving: medical negligence, premises liability, personal injury defense, wrongful death, general civil liability claims.Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, legal memoranda, and case evaluation reports.Conduct and defend depositions.Attend hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and other court proceedings.Assist with and participate in trial preparation and trials.Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and clients.Conduct legal research and analyze complex factual and legal issues.Communicate directly with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties.Maintain organized case files and ensure deadlines and reporting requirements are met.Meet established billable-hour expectations while maintaining high-quality legal work.Required QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.3–5 years of civil litigation experience.Strong preference for attorneys with recent insurance defense experience.Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and substantive legal correspondence.Experience taking or defending depositions.Strong legal research and writing capabilities.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Ability to independently manage multiple cases and competing deadlines.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively with partners, associates, paralegals, and support staff.Preferred ExperienceGeneral liability defense.Insurance defense litigation.Premises liability.Personal injury defense.Medical negligence.Wrongful death.Trial preparation and courtroom experience.Trial experience is preferred but not required.Billable Hours & Bonus OpportunityThe firm's billable-hour expectation is approximately: 500 billable hours per quarter, approximately 167.5 billable hours per month.Attorneys who meet established performance requirements are eligible for quarterly bonuses.In addition, hours billed above the required threshold are compensated, providing attorneys with the opportunity to increase their overall earnings based on performance and productivity.CompensationBase Salary: $90,000–$160,000Compensation will depend on experience, litigation background, insurance defense expertise, and overall qualifications.The compensation package also includes:Quarterly performance bonus opportunitiesAdditional compensation for billable hours exceeding requirementsComprehensive employee benefitsBenefitsMedical insuranceDental insuranceVision insurance401(k) with employer matchLife insurancePaid YMCA membershipOn-site parkingFlexible hybrid work environmentProfessional mentorship and developmentLong-term advancement opportunitiesTeam & Firm StructureThe firm consists of approximately 20 attorneys and 50 total employees, allowing attorneys to benefit from the resources of an established practice while maintaining the accessibility and culture of a smaller firm.The General Liability group operates with a structured mentorship model.
