Counseling Works is a thriving group private practice with four offices across the southwest Chicago suburbs. We're an established practice with a genuine focus on the growth and wellbeing of our clinicians. We're adding an experienced children's therapist to a collaborative, supportive team that values openness, career development, and positive work-life balance.

Full admin support: A dedicated medical biller and intake coordinator handle scheduling, insurance verification, claims, and intake paperwork so you can focus on clients

Free supervision & consultation: Individual and group consultation provided. Supervision provided if required for licensure

No-show protection: You receive your split of any cancellation fees charged, so a client's last-minute cancellation doesn't mean lost income for you

Paid orientation: Your onboarding time is compensated so you can get up to speed without it coming out of your pocket

This is a fee-for-service role. Therapists earn a percentage of collected session revenue, commensurate with experience and licensure level.

Master's level / pre-licensed: 40–49% — approximately $50–$61 per session

Fully licensed: 50%+ — approximately $63+ per session

This position is designed for an experienced clinician who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and teens. You'll carry a caseload of individual and family therapy clients across this demographic, with full administrative support so you can focus on clinical care. You'll:

  • Provide individual and/or family therapy sessions for children, adolescents, and teens
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and formulate DSM-5 diagnoses
  • Develop, implement, and maintain individualized treatment plans
  • Coordinate care with family members, school systems, and outside providers when clinically appropriate
  • Collaborate with intake, leadership, and care coordination teams
  • Contribute to children's specialty outreach and marketing initiatives

Full-time: ~25 client sessions per week; 30+ scheduled hours

Part-time: 15–20 client sessions per week; 29 or fewer scheduled hours

Evenings: Minimum one evening shift per week required

Weekends: Minimum one weekend shift per week required (minimum one-year commitment)

Illinois license required (active or actively in pursuit):

LPC, LCPC, LSW, LCSW, LMFT, AMFT, PsyD, or PhD

Master's degree required (MEd, MSW, or MA)

Minimum 1 year of direct clinical experience working with children, adolescents, or teens

Prior private practice experience is a plus but not required

Preferred specialties or experience:

Play therapy

ADHD or autism spectrum

Childhood or adolescent trauma

School-based counseling or school system collaboration

  • Thrive with autonomy and also value team collaboration
  • Are organized, timely, and accurate with documentation and billing
  • Want to grow a caseload without building a practice from scratch
