Apollo Managing General Agency is growing their Staff Counsel Office in the Dallas area. As a fully remote Staff Counsel Attorney, you will handle insurance defense bodily injury lawsuits, property damage defense lawsuits, and more, including handling cases from filing of the answer, discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediations and trials in the DFW area. While this is a work from home position, some travel will be required to attend hearings, depositions, mediations and trials in the DFW area as needed. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent insured individuals and the Company in the defense of bodily injury defense lawsuits, property damage defense lawsuits, Examinations Under Oath and other duties as assigned.

•Prepare reporting documentation for claims including Initial Defense Counsel report, deposition summaries, pre-trial reports and post-trial reports.

•Review discovery responses, conduct research, and draft and file appropriate motions as needed to move cases to resolution quickly.

•Review Medical Billing and Record Affidavits and request expert and peers as needed.

•Prepare thoroughly for and attend depositions, hearings, mediations and trials.

•Prepare and present pre- and post-trial motions effectively.

•Assist colleagues in resolving calendar conflicts in a collaborative manner.

•Manage projects and case loads efficiently, fostering coordination and collaboration among legal teams and claims partners.

•Keep abreast of and evaluate new laws, regulations, and case law; identifies and summarizes relevant issues; collaborates with other areas of the legal department as well as the claims department; and provides proactive advice and counsel to business units on the impact of new laws.

Must have:

Education

• Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Texas State Bar.

Lives within the DFW area. 

Experience: 2-4 years experience in civil litigation (preferably in insurance defense litigation and with first-chair jury trial experience)
