Defense Litigation Associate

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Defense Litigation Attorney to join our Buffalo office. The ideal candidate is a skilled litigator who is ready to handle a diverse caseload in defense matters. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated cases across multiple practice areas in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of defense litigation cases from inception through trial preparation.
• Conduct fact investigations, draft pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, and trial briefs.
• Take and defend depositions and participate in other discovery activities.
• Appear in court for arguments, conferences, hearings, and trials.
• Prepare and try cases before juries and judges.
• Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to clients.
• Collaborate with partners and associates on complex matters.
• Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and exceptional service.
• Contribute to business development efforts and firm initiatives.

Practice Areas

This position will focus on defense litigation, including but not limited to:

• Professional Liability
• Construction Litigation
• Insurance Defense
• Products Liability
• General Liability and other complex civil defense matters

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active admission to the New York State Bar.
• 3+ years of civil defense litigation experience (5+ years preferred).
• Experience in professional liability, construction, insurance defense, or products liability is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and case management abilities.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
