Mobile Diesel & Trailer Mechanic II - Day Shift

The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.). Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc. Inspect, test, and diagnose equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation. Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and use sound judgment. Manage parts inventory and reconcile on the company‑issued service truck. Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Interact with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and meet expectations. Prioritize concurrent assignments and effectively allocate time. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work on Repair Orders (“RO”) using iOS devices and the TRAIT application, including uploading pictures of work performed and parts used. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly. Work independently, managing own daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity, meeting Standard Repair Times. Obtain parts from approved vendors when necessary. Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain repair estimates and discussion notes. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, as well as OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Maintain company‑issued service truck and conduct daily safety checks and inspections. Requirements High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (or an equivalent combination such as a degree/certification beyond HS and 5 years’ experience). Supply a set of hand tools required for the duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Pass DOT‑regulated background check and DOT physical or provide a DOT medical card with more than four months remaining. Be at least 21 years old and possess a valid Class C driver’s license. Hold a current, valid DOT medical card with sufficient validity or complete a DOT physical as required. Certifications Required: ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE 608/609. Skills & Abilities Apply new information for current and future problem‑solving and decision‑making. Lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor. Maintain physical endurance over long periods and for repetitive tasks. Communicate succinctly and organize information; engage in effective two‑way communication. Determine the appropriate tools and equipment needed. Judge relative distances accurately. Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and conclusions.
