Definition & Essential Functions


Under general supervision, provides customer service, reference help, and imparts basic computer knowledge to library patrons. Plans and assists with public programs for teens & adults.


FLSA status: Non-Exempt.

Tasks
General:

• Does skilled work in circulation, reference, and library programming.
• Assists with daily operations and administration as needed
• Receives general instructions from adult services librarian regarding overall duties.

In addition, this position may be asked to:

• Develop and monitor library programs for teens & adults
• Perform outreach
• Create fliers, announcements, and other written marketing.
• Assist the department with Social Media.

May perform other duties as assigned.

• Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with staff as well as supervisors.
• Think independently and make decisions easily under pressure.
• Physical ability sufficient to operate equipment including computers and telephones; to shelve books on carts daily; and to lift normal library materials.
• Visual ability sufficient to read and write reports and to use normal office equipment.
• Hearing ability sufficient to understand and hold conversations with others in person and by telephone.
• Speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with others in person and by telephone.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.


Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid AZ driver's license.


Must be able to work AM and/or PM shifts and Saturday shifts.

May be assigned by the Director of Parks, Recreation and Library to other departments as needed (special events, etc).
