Utility Aide/In School Suspension Aide

Position Type: Support Staff/ Utility Aide Date Posted: 6/17/2026 Location: Chesterton High School Date Available: 2026-27 Sc Yr Closing Date: when filled SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position will be responsible for various tasks at CHS. Examples of the duties range from, but are not limited to: safety checks, lunch coverage, various administrative assignments, and door access supervision. This position requires the person to be very flexible in accepting assigned tasks by their supervisors, with a strong sense of teamwork needed. This position will deal with community members, parents, students, and staff regularly and will be expected to interact with these publics in a professional, friendly, and organized manner. Starting Salary: $13:50 Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 30 hours of college credit preferred. Educational training and experience preferred. The responsibilities and duties listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Applicants must be willing and able to acquire an Indiana substitute teacher's license. Each essential function is mandatory to perform this job successfully. Preference for applicants with two years of college coursework, with the ability to obtain an Indiana substitute teacher's license. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Supervise In-School Room. Answer questions/requests via phone and in person Utilize email, written, and oral communication to work in the best interest of students Manage the textbook inventory for the In-School Room Supervise the In-School Alternative Placement classroom Take accurate attendance Retrieve classwork from teachers for students Collaboratively develop In-School rules with CHS administration Supervise classrooms in a substitute teacher capacity as needed Supervise the lunchroom Assist with lunch period relief Maintain high expectations for student behavior Other duties as prescribed by CHS Administration SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (includes equipment, hours, physical demands) Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
