NX/Solidworks Designer - US Citizens

Please do not apply if you do not meet this requirement. Job Description: Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer to join our Design/Drafting Group supporting the DUNE project. In this role, you’ll create high‑quality mechanical designs and detailed drawings using NX 1980 and Teamcenter , applying ASME Y14.5M-1994 (or higher) GD&T standards. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers and scientists to develop innovative design solutions that support cutting‑edge physics research. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to world‑class research at one of the nation’s premier particle physics laboratories. Responsibilities: Develop detailed 3D models, layout designs, and 2D drawings using NX 1980, SolidWorks, and Teamcenter. Perform tolerance and stack‑up analyses and apply industry‑standard GD&T practices. Work with engineering teams to research, analyze, and optimize mechanical design solutions. Follow established Design/Drafting and Quality Assurance procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy. Manage design data and documentation using Teamcenter and Windchill . Meet project deadlines and deliver high‑quality, manufacturable design packages. Support continuous improvement in design processes and collaboration tools. Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer. Proficiency in NX 1980 and/or SolidWorks ; experience with Teamcenter or Windchill preferred. Strong understanding and application of ASME Y14.5M-1994 (or higher) GD&T standards. Proven ability to deliver precise, high‑quality designs under tight project schedules. Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work onsite at Fermilab in Batavia, IL , with potential for hybrid flexibility. Must successfully demonstrate proficiency in SolidWorks/NX during a Zoom‑based technical interview .
