Job Description

SageSure Capital Holdings, Inc. seeks a Staff Data Scientist for its 101 Hudson Street, Suite 2700, Jersey City, NJ 07302 location.

Staff Data Scientist will serve as a technical leader within the data science team, driving high-impact initiatives, helping build our data science strategy, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable, production-ready machine learning solutions. Staff Data Scientist also will work on some of our hardest technical and business problems, setting up the bar for analytical excellence, mentoring data scientists, and influencing company-wide decisions through data.

Job Duties:

• Oversee and manage the full lifecycle of AI systems supporting the underwriting department.

• Design and implement machine learning solutions to automate the review and interpretation of underwriting processes. Build NLP and LLM models that extract, classify, and interpret text required for underwriting decisions, and create end-to-end text processing pipelines including ingestion, parsing, normalization, and feature extraction using Python/R.

• Define and evolve AI/ML architecture, including pipelines, storage, model lifecycle management, scaling, and versioning.

• Monitor and maintain production models, detect data or model drift, manage artifacts, and schedule retraining or retirement as needed.

• Develop short and long term AI strategy for underwriting, including process automation priorities and resource planning.

• Mentor interns and part-time employees, and collaborate with DevOps, software engineers, and underwriting teams to ensure AI systems operate reliably in production and integrate smoothly with enterprise workflows.

Requirements: Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative/analytical field and at least two (2) years experience in the offered position or in a related field. Must have at least twenty-four (24) months of experience with the following required skills: Build and develop machine learning and NLP models using PyTorch, SQL, and Python or R. Telecommuting is permissible anywhere in the United States. 40 hours/week
