Workday Integration Engineer

Job summary: We have a 9 month contract opportunity for a Workday Analyst. This role is mainly remote but candidate must be within driving distance of Sacramento, CA to come in for occasional office visits.

The ideal candidate will have experience working alongside our business partners to work through technical solutions, has knowledge of Workday- Integrations, EIBs, Studio, Orchestrate, etc. A strong candidate has excellent communication skills, familiar with creating business requirements based off information collected from our business partners and technical specifications for our development team. A strong candidate is comfortable running/leading small projects.

Responsibilities:

• Integration Analyst IV - Workday Integrations Overview: The Integration Analyst serves as a senior technical leader and design architect responsible for the analysis, design, and optimization of Workday integrations across enterprise systems.
• Provides strategic and hands-on technical guidance to ensure seamless data exchange between Workday and internal/external systems.
• The ideal candidate demonstrates both technical depth and architectural foresight - capable of not just delivering solutions, but designing frameworks for continuous improvement and scalability.
• Workday Integration, Support, Studio, Reporting, and Upgrade experience is highly desired.
• Supports, and leads the integrated solutions for application and data integration managed by Information Services (IS).
• Ensures interfaces are optimally planned, documented, validated, and maintained.
• Provides expert application and technical support for the product line in addition to providing more complex triage and troubleshooting assistance to the product clients.
• Engages in problem management identification, classification, and resolution activities within the applications.
• Leads large integration efforts and provides support to other team members as a mentor.

Education: Equivalent experience accepted. Bachelor's: Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Expert knowledge of data and application development lifecycle methodologies.
• Working knowledge of healthcare operations and structure.
• Working knowledge of Health Level 7 (HL7) and Extensible Markup Language (XML) messaging standards and structure, as well as Application Program Interfaces (APIs).
• Advanced understanding of downstream applications and core systems integration.
• Set priorities accurately and complete work timely.
• Verbal and writing skills to effectively communicate with executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

Integration Design & Architecture

• Lead design and architecture of complex Workday integrations using Studio, EIB, Orchestrations, and APIs.
• Serve as a technical authority ensuring integrations align with enterprise standards, security, and performance benchmarks.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable integration designs.

Analysis & Documentation

• Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation including Design Documents (DODs), BRDs, and integration specifications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align integration strategies with organizational objectives.
• Evaluate and recommend enhancements and process improvements.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Provide design leadership and mentorship for team members.
• Partner with project managers, business analysts, and third-party consultants for implementation success.
• Act as a bridge between functional teams and development resources.
• Support up to 39+ active enhancements and 6-7 concurrent projects.

Continuous Improvement

• Champion best practices in integration design, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to optimize performance and reduce technical debt.
• Leverage metrics and lessons learned to drive improvements.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 7 years in integration analysis, design, and development in enterprise or healthcare.
• Strong understanding of Workday integration frameworks (Studio, EIB, Orchestrations, APIs).
• Proficiency with data mapping, transformation, error handling in cloud and on-premise systems.
• Familiarity with middleware, interface engines, and system interoperability concepts.
• Skilled in authoring and maintaining DODs, BRDs, and technical design documentation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with vendors, consultants, and internal teams in a hybrid project delivery environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Epic or other EHR system integrations.
• Prior consulting or design leadership experience within healthcare or enterprise IT.
