Meat Department Manager

OBJECTIVE

The Meat Department Manager will provide quality customer service within the Meat Department by providing our valued customers with fresh, top quality meat. All duties will be performed in a manner that will help achieve the Medford Cooperative’s mission and goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve customers throughout the store while modeling a service-oriented culture and providing best in class customer service, which includes greeting, engaging, and thanking every guest for their business. Greet all customers with a friendly attitude and serve them in a friendly, efficient manner. Responsible for thorough and consistent training and leadership of meat department employees while following proper food handling procedures. Manage meat department labor goals by creating employee schedules to maximize production. Plan promotions to include advertised and in-store specials as well as seasonal events. Maintain inventory levels, place weekly orders and ensure accurate pricing. Assist store management in preparing the departmental budget, profit and loss reviews and take appropriate action on financial reports. Receive, process, prepare, wrap, weigh and label packages. Maintain proper shelf, case and display conditions to include stocking, cleaning, straightening and rotating product. Maintain proper cooler conditions by rotating, cleaning and organizing cases or products. Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service, making recommendations and promoting products through suggestive selling. Ensure the meat department is fully stocked with best quality products. Walk the department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times. Assist in creating attractive department displays and end caps based on specific sales for the week. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures. Promote a positive culture and ensure effective communication. Report to work at the assigned/scheduled time and may be required to fill in as needed in other customer-facing roles. Perform other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

HS Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be patient and helpful to exceed the customer’s expectations. Must possess basic computer skills to operate scanners, registers, calculators, etc. Must be able to follow verbal and written directions in regard to paperwork and daily reporting.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Lift 75 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, 20 lbs. regularly. Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions, priorities and circumstances. Must be able to lift, twist, bend, stoop, squat, stand, reach, pull, push and lift overhead. Fast-paced environment requiring standing up to 8 hours per day.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires a 40-hour work week in this full-time position. Schedule includes weekends and holidays; flexibility is essential. Smoke-free environment. This position is primarily indoors but requires working in a cold/cooler environment and a variety of shifts including weekends. #J-18808-Ljbffr Jimmy Jazz
