The Electrical Service Technician I is an entry-level, client-facing field role responsible for supporting the troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and servicing of electrical systems under the direct supervision of a Journeyman or Master Electrician. This position assists in responding to service calls across commercial, industrial, and operational environments, helping to identify issues, perform basic repairs, and support system installations.

In addition to developing technical skills, this role plays an important part in the customer experience by maintaining a professional presence on job sites, communicating respectfully with clients, and supporting timely and effective service delivery. The Technician I is expected to build foundational problem-solving abilities, follow established troubleshooting processes, and contribute to safe, high-quality work while progressing through required apprenticeship training and hours.

Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

·         Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing electrical systems under the direction of a Journeyman

or Master Electrician

·         Support response to service calls by helping identify basic electrical issues and performing entry-level repairs and

maintenance

·         Assist with installation of conduit, wiring, lighting systems, panels, and related electrical components

·         Follow established troubleshooting processes to help identify root causes of electrical issues and support

implementation of solutions

·         Maintain a professional and respectful presence when interacting with customers on job sites, representing the

company positively

·         Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job progress, issues encountered, and

support needed

·         Adhere to all safety standards, including OSHA regulations and company safety policies, while working in field

environments

·         Read and interpret basic electrical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to support task execution

·         Accurately track time, materials, and work performed using company systems and tools

·         Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition

·         Assist with preventative maintenance and service agreement work as directed

·         Participate in apprenticeship training, including completion of required hours, coursework, and skill development

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         Foundational knowledge of electrical theory, systems, and components, wiring methods, circuits, and

devices

·         Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting concepts and willingness to learn structured diagnostic processes

·         Ability to assist in identifying electrical issues and support implementation of repairs under supervision

·         Developing ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and basic one-line diagrams

·         Familiarity with common electrical tools, materials, and safe work practices in construction and service environments

·         Working knowledge of jobsite safety requirements, including OSHA standards and proper use of personal protective

equipment (PPE)

·         Strong attention to detail to support accurate installation, troubleshooting, and task execution

·         Ability to follow direction, learn quickly, and apply feedback in a hands-on field environment

·         Effective communication skills to interact with supervisors, team members, and customers in a professional manner

·         Basic customer service skills, including maintaining professionalism, listening to customer concerns, and supporting

positive service experiences

·         Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize assigned tasks, and adapt to changing jobsite conditions

·         Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and commitment to completing apprenticeship training and required hours

Work Environment:

·         Primarily field-based role supporting electrical service work across commercial, industrial, and construction job sites

·         Regular exposure to active construction environments, operational facilities, and customer-occupied spaces requiring professionalism and situational awareness

·         Work performed in varying conditions, including indoor and outdoor environments, extreme temperatures, noise, dust, and confined spaces

·         Frequent travel to job sites within the service area, with work locations varying daily based on service needs

·         Exposure to electrical systems and equipment under supervision, including adherence to safety protocols when working around energized systems

·         Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and other site-specific safety gear

·         Work schedules may vary based on service demands, including early mornings, extended hours, or occasional weekend work

·         Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

·         Manual dexterity and coordination required to safely operate tools, equipment, and perform detailed electrical work

·         Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, and work boots

·         Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel to multiple job sites throughout the workday

Typical Schedule/Shift Details:

·         Typically works a full-time schedule, generally Monday through Friday, with start times varying based on job site and service requirements

·         Reports directly to assigned job sites or designated meeting locations; daily travel to multiple customer locations may

be required

·         Work hours may vary depending on service demands, project schedules, and customer needs, including early

mornings or extended shifts

·         May be required to work occasional overtime or weekends to support service operations, project deadlines, or

emergency response needs

Requirements

Education:

·         High school diploma or GED required

·         Enrollment in, or willingness to enroll in, a state-approved electrical apprenticeship program required

·         Completion of coursework in electrical theory, construction trades, or a related field preferred

Certifications/Licenses:

·         Active Apprentice Electrician License (state-specific) required

·         Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required

·         Ability to meet company requirements for driving a company vehicle, including ongoing motor vehicle record (MVR)

compliance

·         OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe)

Experience Requirements:

·         0–2 years of electrical, construction, or related field experience preferred

·         Previous hands-on experience using basic tools and working in a field or jobsite environment preferred

·         Basic exposure to electrical systems, installation, or maintenance activities is a plus

·         Commitment to completing required on-the-job training hours and progressing through an electrical apprenticeship

program
