Responsibilities
- Lead and perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of HVAC equipment, including air and water-cooled chillers, centrifugal and screw package chillers, natural gas boilers, unit heaters, electric duct heaters, cooling towers, and various water pumps.
- Operate and maintain HVAC air distribution systems, including air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), fans, and related devices.
- Work with pneumatic, direct digital controls (DDC), and variable frequency drive (VFD) systems.
- Maintain, upgrade, and back up Building Automation Software as required.
- Monitor compliance with contractual commitments and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior technicians, supporting their professional development.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency service requests as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a basic air conditioning theory class.
- Minimum of 7 years of large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred.
- Proficient in the use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
- Experience with DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification preferred.
- Virginia Journeyman HVAC license preferred.
- OSHA Certification preferred.
- Valid Virginia or Maryland driver’s license required.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance preferred.
