We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team. This role requires precision, professionalism, and a compassionate approach to patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience in a hospital or clinical lab setting and be able to work independently while being self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using approved techniques and universal precautions.
• Verify patient identity and match specimens to requisitions in compliance with HIPAA and hospital policy.
• Label, process, and transport specimens according to laboratory standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment; follow OSHA and infection control protocols.
• Communicate professionally with patients and staff to reduce anxiety and explain procedures clearly.
• Document all collections accurately in the electronic health record (Mobilab).

Essential Skills

• Active California Certified Phlebotomy Technician license.
• Basic Life Support Certification.
• 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or clinical lab setting.
• Ability to draw 40+ patients per day (5 per hour).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Inpatient experience highly preferred.
• Ability to perform pediatric heel sticks.
• Experience with blood drawing techniques such as Butterfly and use of a centrifuge.

Work Environment

This position operates within a hospital setting on the floor and in the Emergency Department (ED). The phlebotomy team consists of three members working the night shift, with two on the floor and one in the ED. Phlebotomists typically perform 26 draws on a slow day and 45 on a busy day. The schedule is from 8:30 PM to 5:00 AM, with a requirement to rotate weekends. The hospital provides a supportive and team-oriented atmosphere, emphasizing safety and employee involvement. This is a Contract position based out of THOUSAND OAKS, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
