Accountant

Accountant Location: Houston, TX Pay Rate: Starting at $25.00/hour Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Dean's Professional Services is actively seeking an Accountant to join a growing accounting team in Houston, Texas. This onsite, weekday opportunity offers long-term stability, competitive pay, and the chance to play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations within a professional, compliance-focused environment. Responsibilities Prepare, review, and post journal entries Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts Maintain and manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable records Accurately process a high volume of AP/AR transactions in a timely manner Analyze variances and investigate and resolve discrepancies Work directly with vendors and clients to manage accounts, balances, and inquiries Process payments promptly and ensure proper documentation Respond timely to internal and external information requests Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports Assist with internal and external audits and respond to auditor requests Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies Perform additional accounting duties as needed Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel 3-5 years of hands‑on QuickBooks experience (required) Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy Ability to multitask, shift priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with an emphasis in Accounting (strongly preferred) Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects with minimal supervision Benefits Competitive hourly pay Comprehensive benefits package: medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) Stable weekday schedule supporting work-life balance Opportunity to support meaningful healthcare‑related programs and financial operations Supportive, professional, and compliance-driven team culture #J-18808-Ljbffr
